"light next to my b-17i was a left waist gunner on a B-17. over france we saw a light,the altemeter went crazy and kept going from sea lvl to 10000 ft even though we were flying higher, but none of the other instruments faild or so the pilot said;it stayed with us for about 5 min. we wanted to shoot it but the pilot said "if it was hostile it would have killed us by now. teh engenner thought it was a kraut secret weapon.((NUFORC Note: Date is approximate.
