Witness Testimony

"I was on my patio using my new gen 3, pvs-7 night vision goggles viewing satellites and stars, when at approx. 2130 hrs, i saw lights in the shape of a triangle, very high up. i am not a pilot, so i would guess 70,000 feet up, about twice the height of commercial aircraft, heading in a s/w direction. the lights were steady, not flashing, and were in a triangle shape. i would guess that there was approx. 12 lights total in the shape of a triangle. i did not hear any jet noise or any other noise at the time. i did not see any flashing lights on the craft. the total time viewed was approx 20 seconds, as my wife was with me and i handed her the goggles, but she could not find it. the next day, i found out that the blue angels were flying over los angeles on a sightseeing tour, prior to making their way to san diego for an air show. the news reported the blue angels were flying through los angeles at approx. 1800 - 1900 hrs and my sighting was at 2130 hrs. i'm not sure if the blue angels refueled in los angeles and took off at the time i saw the lights, that is a possibility.If the blue angels were not in flight at that time, then i'm not sure what craft i saw, but was not a typical everyday aircraft. another question i have is, do the blue angels fly in a tight formation, and in a triangle shape when traveling to another destinations. the lights on the craft were not a perfect triangle. i drew a picture to show what i remember about the lights."
