"At approximately 6:20pm while driving north along Highway 1, a bright flash of concentrated bright light in the night sky was seen along the water not far from Pillar Point Air Force Station. It was raining fairly heavily at the time, but no thunder or sound could be heard and the light did not resemble lightening. This explosion of light triggered a temporary power outage, effecting nearby traffic lights for approximately 1-2 minutes. "
