Witness Testimony

"Lake Champlain Maritime Museum · 4472 Basin Harbor Rd. Vergennes, VT 05491. A group of us were at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. The sky was dark, so it had to be after 9:30 p.m. One person in our group said, "I wonder what that is?" We all looked up and agreed it could not be a plane, helicopter, hot air balloon, weather balloon, or anything else like it. The orb was moving slowly from east to west. It did not make a sound - totally quiet. It was quite large, about 1,000 feet up, and as high as it was, it looked about the size of a dinner plate from where we stood. The color was a reddish-orange and it was very bright like it was lit up from inside. The colors were moving and changing - it even appeared that some blue was mixed in - like a hot fire. It continued moving until it was almost over us, but still about 1,000 feet up. It did not go as far as the lake - probably about 200 feet from the lake. Where we were, we could not see the lake because of trees. Then, it stopped moving and suddenly shot straight up - not sideways - straight up and very fast. It kept going up until it looked like one of the stars. It must have kept going because we finally couldn't see it anymore because it got smaller than the stars."
