Witness Testimony

"I was leaving for work. As I unlocked car, I looked up and observed the constellation of Orion, and to the left of that the star Sirius. In direct line with Rigel and Sirius, to the left of Sirius, I observed a third star-like light, of nearly the same brightness as Sirius, that I did not recognize. It was about the same 'distance' from Sirius as Sirius is from Rigel. My first thought was, "I wonder what planet that is." I looked back at Orion, then followed the line from Rigel to Sirius to this star or planet and thought, when I get to work I need to look that up. I opened my car door, looked back at Orion, then Sirius, then nothing. The star/planet had disappeared.I immediately checked the surrounding sky conditions and saw that there were some high, thin clouds directly overhead. Though I couldn't see any clouds in the area where the star had been, I waited a couple of minutes to see if it would reappear from behind a cloud. It didn't, and I saw no obscuring clouds in the area where this star/planet/object had disappeared. "
