"I went outside at midnight Dec 31st 2359 PM through 0005 AM January 1st, 2015 and observed several red glowing star-like objects hundreds to thousands of feet above the mountains east of Anchorage. They appeared to be floating and slowly moving. I don't know if these were craft or not, I don't know of anyone shooting red flares with parachutes over the mountains but they could have been that, or possibly alien craft. I am a pilot and one thing they weren't, they were not conventional aircraft."
