Witness Testimony

"At approximately 11pm AEST, I saw a small very distant white light in the eastern sky that rapidly moved in two directions. I first saw the light somewhere between Sirius, Betelgeuse and Procyon. The light was of constant intensity, white hue, not sparkling or flickering in appearance. The light first moved along a downward trajectory diagonally toward the horizon from Sirius to Betelgeuse. It appeared to move at a constant speed - this speed was too slow for an asteroid, and too fast for a plane. I further disqualified my initial suspicion that it was a plane on the grounds of the light being too small and much too fast in movement for any aircraft I have ever seen. A rough estimation of speed is indicated by the observation as follows: the light moved from the positions of Sirius to Betelgeuse in under five seconds. The light then disappeared before reappearing approximately two seconds later. It then tracked in the opposite direction, moving in an upward trajectory away from the horizon diagonally back toward Sirius. The light moved at the same speed as it’s first path. I see that the International and Tiangong stations were in orbit, each moving toward the horizon at approximately 10.17pm. I have disqualified these as potential sources of the light- their path was too early, too southerly, and followed a unidirectional orbit path only. I have considered the light may have been a drone- however, I also find this explanation lacking. The light was so small and so distant, yet so bright and constant in speed and direction that I cannot conclude it was a drone. I have downloaded and cross checked the time of the sighting against an online night sky viewing app- there are no other plausible satellites or meteors that correspond to the spatial and temporal location of my sighting.
