SIGHTING: BALSAM LAKE, WISCONSIN (UNITED STATES)

Witness Testimony

"My wife and I had decided to head outside for a walk through a huge hayfield. The weather was calm and warm, skies were clear. I had brought my camera with me since I had planned on doing a fun long-exposure experiment, so I set up my tri-pod in the middle of the field to capture some shots of the milky way. As I was taking photos, I happened to look off to the horizon toward, I believe, Balsam Lake (the body of water, not necessarily the town). Over the treetops hovered three tiny red lights. They were completely stationary at first, then began to move slowly and independently across the horizon. When they stopped moving again, I pointed them out to my wife. No sooner had I gotten the words out of my mouth when all of a sudden the sky erupted with the most vivid aurora I had ever seen in my life, coincidentally in the same direction of the objects. We sat and watched both the lights and aurora for nearly a half hour until the red lights drifted out of sight over the horizon. As the lights left, so did the aurora. It wasn't as though a massive mothership had landed before my eyes, but it was very strange none the less, especially with the northern lights!"
