Witness Testimony

"I was going out to my truck to retrieve a backpack. when i walked outside a bright star like object that was yellow white in color was at about 40 degrees elevation 55 degrees ne from my home. it was the brightest object in the sky, about 3-4 times brighter than jupiter. it was stationary when i noticed it, but as i walked towards my truck it began to change in brightness and moved about 5 degrees up in elevation before stopping. it left a small trail behind it as if it were burning. it then stayed stationary for about 20 seconds before moving east about 10 degree, staying the same brightness. it stopped and remained stationary for about 30 seconds and then moved off to the north and dimmed over the course of about 10-15 seconds until it completely disappeared. it appeared to be several miles away, at an altitude of roughly 5000 feet but it could have been much farther or closer. it's hard to say without definitively knowing its size. i would guess it to be about 50-100 feet in diameter. i have lived on military installations for 20 years and am very familiar with commercial and military aviation and this did not appear to be any type of aircraft i am aware of. i have been an amateur astronomer and astrophotographer for about 5 years and this did not reflect any astronomical phenomenon i am aware of.
