SIGHTING: MYRTLE POINT, OREGON (UNITED STATES)

Witness Testimony

"wed 5 Nov 2014, 12 noon.. 13 miles east of myrtle point Oregon, from my front porch I observed to the west a very short, very bright, very colorfull rainbow with what apeared to be a bright light source behind it.. If you tape a toothpick across the center of a nickel and hold it at arms length with the toothpic at 1 o'clock 7 o'clock, that will give you a size.. The small 'rainbow' effect would vary in size and brightness but the vividness of the colors are like nothing I've seen short of neon.. The bright light source itself remained pretty constant slowly varying from orbish to crescent'ish shaped.. My wife and I observed this for over 20 mins and it never moved in the sky, the object remained completely stationary while seeming to cause a disturbence or vapor trail in the clouds as the clouds passed by the object, NOT the object through the clouds..... I took several pics at 2 to 3 mins apart and this effect shows pretty clear..I am retired Coast Guard and Merchant Marines and have spent half of my adult life at sea standing watches at all hours and in all weathers, I have never seen anything like this in the sky before in my life..[Names removed/cms/tg]"
