"Was working outside at about 6:40-6:45 Pm tonight (10/17/2014) Saw a bright yellow star like object in the sky. Was curious so watched it and after a few seconds it died out like a candle flame then came back very bright again almost as soon as it vanished but in a different location. Did this for 3 or 4 minutes and then did not see it again. Think it was in Southwest direction but not sure will check tomorrow in the light. I pointed it out to my father who always has an explanation for things and he said "That surely was not a jet!" Then withing a couple minutes of object vanishing We heard a loud jet or jets, but could never actually see the jets possibly because of the tree line. I saw a report also from Maine on the same thing tonight and was interested exactly where that was because sounds like the same thing I saw."
