Witness Testimony

"Driving home from working all night in Dansville, I crested the hill just before the Sparta Town Church and immediately noticed what I at first thought was a star. Then I noticed that it was far too large to be a star, and far too bright. My jaw hit the floor immediately and all I could utter was, "What... the heck... is that..." It almost looked like a flame. It hung stationary in the sky, flickering slightly, before vanishing into thin air as though it were absorbed. My first thought was that it might have been a Chinese Lantern, which wouldn't have been out of the ordinary since they'd been flying all summer, but then I thought, "Who launches Chinese Lanterns in the middle of October? And what Chinese Lantern's just pop out of existence like that?" Additionally, I had never seen a lantern quite so bright as this."
